MailChimp and WPForms are two amazing tools that can help you grow your business.

In This Post

WPForms is a plugin for WordPress which makes it easy to create forms and Mailchimp is an email marketing service that helps you to send beautifully designed emails with little effort. Learn how to use WPforms to create a Mailchimp subscribe form on WordPress so that anyone on your website can easily sign up for your mailing list!

What is MailChimp?

MailChimp describes themselves as, “the All-In-One integrated marketing platform for small businesses, to grow your business on your terms. It’s easy to use – start for free today!”It is one of the most popular email marketing platforms. They have been around for a long time and are easy to get started with their generous free plan. To start collecting emails for marketing purposes there are several pieces that need to be considered. First, the email marketing platform, and second a form or a way to input at the very least an email. This form that appears on the website is connected and integrated to MailChimp which will house all the collected emails. Over the years running my blog, I have used several different email marketing platforms. Like many, I started with MailChimp, I then switched to MailerLite and finally ConvertKit. All email marketing systems have pros and cons. Although I switched to ConvertKit, MailChimp is robust and has integrations with many other software platforms, making it super versatile and easy to use.

In this WPForms tutorial, we will show you how to create a MailChimp subscribe form in WPForms. WPForms is an easy way to create customized forms that integrate seamlessly with MailChimp and WordPress.

What is WPForms?

WPForms is one of the best form builder plugins available for WordPress. WPForms is a plugin that can be installed from the WordPress dashboard. For MailChimp functionality, WPForms includes a MailChimp addon in the Plus, Pro, and Elite plan. Once it’s activated, you’ll see WPForms appear as an option on your ‘Add New’ screen when creating new posts or pages in WordPress.

WPForms offers many benefits for your business:

  • WPForms are mobile responsive and work on any device
  • The plugin can be used with any theme
  • You can export the collected data into CSV, Google Sheets or PDF files for analysis

WPForms comes with some easy to use templates which allows anyone who doesn’t have design skills to drag and drop their way through designing many types of forms, including a Mailchimp subscribe form, without any effort at all. You don’t need to know HTML code (though if you do then this will come more naturally).

How Do I add MailChimp to My Forms?

Getting Started

To get started we’re going to go ahead and create a page called Subscribe With MailChimp Form. Then, once you have purchased a paid version of WPForms, enable the MailChimp Addon.

Once enabled, choose the Newsletter Signup form under the template options.

Now we have our form we can start designing.

Head over to WPForms -> Settings where you can customize some additional features such as whether people are allowed more than one email address, whether people are allowed to edit their subscription before sending it and the WPForms branding.

GDPR Settings

GDPR settings are important, especially for international subscribers. WPForms uses MailChimp’s double opt-in method for collecting your subscribers’ emails which means you can rest assured that they have given explicit permission to receive any promotional content from you in future messages. The signup form will not work without a double opt-in as MailChimp has very strict requirements on this point of use.

Connect MailChimp

In the marketing options, choose MailChimp.

Notification Settings

In the notifications and confirmation settings, setup notifications to the admin and to the user of the even that was just completed.

WPForms also includes some advanced features such as link tracking so you know where traffic is coming from, autoresponders (such as welcome series) to newly subscribed prospects and more!
